Whimsical Forest
This class will help you learn the skills for broderie perse (French for "Persian embroidery"). This is a style of appliqué which uses printed elements to create a scene on the background fabric.
The Whimsical Forest project is a modern twist on the popular tree of life pattern. Using your imagination and broderie perse, you will learn to create a forest of your own. We will focus on the technique of needle turn appliqué to create your forest.
Basting techniques, placement of leaves, animals, and insects will be discussed to help with balance of the quilt.
Imagination with fabric is the first step to making creative and beautiful broderie perse quilts; it is a very important technique for anyone wanting to learn broderie perse. You will be able to choose a one tree or two tree panel kit, which will include animals, insects, birds and leaves. A pattern will not be required, as imagination and creativity will guide the class.
